I've never been a huge fan of cookies (be it baking or eating). I find baking them messy. I suck at handling the piping bag. With cookie dough that should be shaped or cut, I can never seem to get the consistency right and often end up making a mess out of it.
Anyway, it's my boy's birthday tomorrow and we've having a small BBQ for his school friends. Apart from the crepe cake that I will be making, I thought we could do with some easy dessert (like cookies). Someone shared the link to a recipe for butter cookies (here) on FB and I decided to give it a shot.
In addition to the recipe, I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
After some elbow grease (my KA is on self-declared leave), I finally got this batch out. The first ones were round and absolutely ugly so I decided to make them into rectangles instead.
The recipe yielded 32 of these and about 25 round ones.
It's a crumbly, kinda melt-in-your-mouth type of cookie and not too sweet. I'll probably make another batch of it tomorrow, if time permits.
